The Long Arm Of God!

The expression "long arm of the law" has been used for the far-reaching power of the authorities. In spite of sometimes being used lightly today, it once was a serious reference to the inability to get away with something because "the law" or the governmental authorities would ultimately catch you. Though this expression was used to discourage crime, a similar reference to God is meant to encourage returning to Him.

Someone has stated, "Decisions can take you out of God's Will, but never out of His reach." Do we find some encouragement in that thought?

Speaking through His prophet Isaiah, God stated. . .
"(2) Why, when I came, was there no man; why, when I called, was there no one to answer? IS MY HAND SHORTENED, THAT IT CANNOT REDEEM? Or HAVE I NO POWER TO DELIVER? Behold, by my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a desert; their fish stink for lack of water and die of thirst." ( Isaiah 50:2 ESV)

. . . and . . .

"(1) Behold, THE LORD'S HAND IS NOT SHORTENED, THAT IT CANNOT SAVE, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear;" ( Isaiah 59:1 ESV)

That is not where the problem is. The problem is when we continue to allow our sins to separate us from God. ( Isaiah 59:2) God has provided through Christ what is necessary for our salvation.

Though we ought to always remain serious about acknowledging and following the will of God, it is very encouraging to know when we do mess up, He is waiting for our return. (note the picture of Luke 15:20-24) If we are willing, God is ready for every one of His children to return to His embrace. HIS ARM IS NOT TOO SHORT. We are not out of His reach. May we continue to live in the embrace of His loving arms. Keep reaching for His reaching arms. Let Him reach us!

Have a great day LIFTING OUR HANDS AND HEART TO THE LORD!
Carl
