Power Passages! (part 1 of 11)
We often struggle with allowing God to use us. We may wonder regarding what possible use we could be to God. We feel our limitations. We sense our inadequacies. We see our unworthiness. And to an extent we should. The reality of these things should reveal how we are to depend on God's power rather than our own. And He is willing to provide that power.
Someone compiled a list that ought to encourage us because it is a list of men and women God worked through.
Moses stuttered. David's armor didn't fit. John Mark was rejected by Paul. Hosea's wife was a prostitute. Amos' only training was in the school of fig-tree pruning. Solomon was too rich. Abraham was too old. David was too young. Timothy had stomach problems. Peter was afraid of death. Lazarus was dead. John was self-righteous. Naomi was a widow. Paul was a murderer. So was Moses. Jonah ran from God. Miriam was a gossip. Gideon and Thomas both doubted. Jeremiah was depressed and suicidal. Elijah was burned out. John the Baptist was a loudmouth. Martha was a worry-wart. Mary was lazy. Samson had long hair. Noah got drunk. [list received via e-mail]
What will make the difference for us? We must retain the POWER CONNECTION!
Jesus pointed to the importance of being connected to Him.
"(4) ABIDE IN ME, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, NEITHER CAN YOU, UNLESS YOU ABIDE IN ME. (5) I am the vine; you are the branches. WHOEVER ABIDES IN ME AND I IN HIM, HE IT IS THAT BEARS MUCH FRUIT, FOR APART FROM ME YOU CAN DO NOTHING. (6) If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned." ( John 15:4-6 ESV)
Paul also pointed to the connection we need with Christ.
"(15) Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to GROW UP IN EVERY WAY INTO HIM WHO IS THE HEAD, INTO CHRIST, (16) FROM WHOM THE WHOLE BODY, JOINED AND HELD TOGETHER BY EVERY JOINT WITH WHICH IT IS EQUIPPED, when each part is working properly, MAKES THE BODY GROW SO THAT IT BUILDS ITSELF UP IN LOVE." ( Ephesians 4:15-16 ESV)
To grow and be fruitful we must be CONNECTED to the Divine POWER source. Jesus stated there is no other way.
Have a great day RETAINING YOUR POWER CONNECTION!
