A Treasured Possession!
Do you have something you really treasure? A possession you just could not part with no matter how much money someone might offer you for it. A possession so valued by you that no monetary value could be placed on it? Something you hold so dearly that you would be just sick if you were to lose it? That's okay, provided that object is a good and worthwhile thing to be treasured.
God has referred to a possession like that. It is a possession no monetary value can be placed on. It is also a possession God does not want to lose. Do you know what it is?
In Malachi we read. . .
"(17) They shall be mine, says the LORD of hosts, in the day when I make up MY TREASURED POSSESSION, and I will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him. (18) Then once more you shall see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve him." ( Malachi 3:17-18 ESV)
And Peter encouraged with the following focus of God toward us a Christians. . .
"(9) But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, A PEOPLE FOR HIS OWN POSSESSION, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light." ( 1 Peter 2:9 ESV)
Isn't that a wonderful thought to dwell on? In Christ we become, to God, HIS TREASURED POSSESSION! He desires to continue to hold us dear to Him! He does not want us lost! (i.e. 2 Peter 3:9) May we remain in HIS POSSESSION as we properly value God's desire for possessing us.
Have a great day ENCOURAGED BY GOD'S VALUE OF US!
Carl
