A Good Soldier!

As I drive things catch my attention and my mind gets rolling sometimes faster than the speed of the car. Recently as my wife and I were traveling somewhere, I noticed a car dealership offering a discount to military personnel. Continuing on our way I began thinking about that special offer. I wondered if they would give me a discount if I desired to buy a car from them. No, I am not a member of the U.S. Navy of which there was a port in that area, though that was part of my plans at one time. Nor am I or have I ever been a member of any other branch of the United States military. However, am I not a member of the LORD'S ARMY? Though I really have no plans to walk into that dealership to purchase an automobile, I still wondered how they might respond if I told them I was a member of a force DEFENDING THE TRUTH that is of eternal significance and striving to BRING FREEDOM to the very souls of mankind through Jesus Christ. Though the preservation of life and freedoms is this world is not to be diminished, is there any greater cause than that of Christ and the spiritual warfare of which He is leading us to victory?

In Paul's second letter to Timothy we read. . .
"(1) You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, (2) and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. (3) SHARE IN SUFFERING AS A GOOD SOLDIER OF CHRIST JESUS." ( 2 Timothy 2:1-3 ESV)

In the midst of the challenges of ministry, Timothy was to help equip others and remain standing steadfast "as a good soldier of Christ Jesus." In the first letter, Timothy was urged to "FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT OF THE FAITH." ( 1 Timothy 6:12)

The battle between good and evil and truth and error continues today. Are we FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT or spending our time engaged in things of lesser importance? Are we standing firm as a good soldier of Christ Jesus, or have we been enlisted in another's cause? Recognize that in the battle in which our Lord is leading that the eternal destiny of our soul and the souls of others is at stake. Let us therefore remain open to the commands of our King Jesus Christ Who is King of kings and Lord of lords. ( 1 Timothy 6:15) Though it may feel at times that some of the skirmishes are lost, with Him the final victory is assured.

Have a great day STRENGTHENED IN THE LORD TO STAND AND FIGHT FOR THAT WHICH IS OF ETERNAL SIGNIFICANCE!
