The Chosen Repertoire!
As there are many types of music there are many different radio stations from which to choose. The type of music being played on any particular station may also mark the personality of the DJ (disc jockey) who chooses and plays the songs. The DJ of a classical station might talk calmly and softly while the DJ of a hard rock station might talk with a great deal of excitement and hype and then the DJ of a Christian music station might speak with many words of encouragement while the DJs of other stations match their tone with whatever type of music is programmed.
What kind of programming is coming from our life? Someone has said, "Gossip is the devil's radio, so don't be his DJ!" [posted on Facebook]
Solomon stated. . .
"(21) DEATH AND LIFE ARE IN THE POWER OF THE TONGUE, and those who love it will eat its fruits." ( Proverbs 18:21 ESV)
What marks the fruit of our lips? For what purpose do we put to use our tongue. James said the tongue can be "a restless evil full of deadly poison." ( James 3:8) However, we should remain mindful of using it to not curse, but rather TO BLESS. ( James 3:10)
What repertoire have we chosen for the tongue? Instead of being the devil's DJ and playing his music, let us be the Lord's. Seeking to glorify Him and benefit the lives of others, His melody carried from our lips in life can be A BLESSING TO ITS HEARERS.
In his letter to the church at Ephesus, Paul urged. . .
"(29) Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for BUILDING UP, as FITS THE OCCASION, that it may GIVE GRACE TO THOSE WHO HEAR." ( Ephesians 4:29 ESV)
May our speech fall into one of those three categories. Remaining so, others will be more likely to tune us in and hopefully be drawn closer to God.
Have a great day MARKED BY CARING AND COMFORTING CONVERSATION!
