Breaking Through!

As I write this focus I can hear the rain hitting the roof and running through the gutters. It has been overcast with rain off and on throughout the day. Though there were times it appeared the clouds might let the sun shine through, it just didn't happen. The late afternoon and evening came with several heavy downpours. Though I don't mind the rain, knowing it is what cleanses the air and gives the plants and forests a drink, I am encouraged when the clouds do break allowing the sun to shine through. Too many gray days can become depressing. Seeing the bright rays of the sun helps to pick up the spirits and draws us out into the fresh air.

In Isaiah we read. . .
"(22) I have blotted out your TRANSGRESSIONS LIKE A CLOUD and your SINS LIKE A MIST; return to me, for I have redeemed you." ( Isaiah 44:22 ESV)

Sin ought to be seen as the darkness it is. It separates us from God. To remain in sin should be viewed as gloom and doom. However, it does not have to remain that way. God's desire was for Israel to return to Him. That is His desire for all humanity still today. ( 2 Peter 3:9) Repenting and departing from a life of sin can be like the parting of the clouds allowing the Light of God to overcome the darkness.

Remember John's encouragement where he wrote. . .
"(7) But if we WALK IN THE LIGHT, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and THE BLOOD OF JESUS HIS SON CLEANSES US FROM ALL SIN." ( 1 John 1:7 ESV)

Through Christ our sins can be "blotted out" ( Acts 3:19) and blue skies can appear, allowing us to bask in the LIGHT OF THE SON.

Have a great day LIVING IN THE SON LIGHT OF GOD'S LOVE!
Carl
