How Great! (part 4 of 4)

Something constant in an ever changing world. Something CONSISTENT in a non-consistent society. Something unwavering in spite of an ever shifting culture. Something stable in which our lives can be safely anchored until the storms pass and we can safely arrive home. Is that not what we want? Is that not what we need? Praise GOD for HIS FAITHFULNESS to provide such as that.

Considering again part of the focus of the hymn we began with in part one of this series of focuses, our God is more CONSISTENT than what mankind has made of this realm. The first verse of the hymn "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" notes God as being with "no shadow or turning", that He "changes not", His compassions do not fail, and how He has been is how He always will be. This reflects the same essence noted by James in encouraging his readers to recognize they could CONSISTENTLY expect good and perfect gifts from above. ( James 1:17) The "Father of lights" gives in accordance with His own CONSISTENT character.

In the shortest psalm we read. . .
"(1) Praise the LORD, all nations! Extol him, all peoples! (2) For great is his steadfast love toward us, and the FAITHFULNESS OF THE LORD ENDURES FOREVER. Praise the LORD!" ( Psalm 117:1-2 ESV)

FAITHFULNESS reveals its genuineness the greatest when enduring. Are we remaining faithful to God as we endure some of the challenges of this realm? Consider how lovingly and patiently He has endured our times of rebellion and still FAITHFULLY offered us the opportunity for reconciliation.

GOD'S FAITHFULNESS reaches into eternity and will take us with it! HIS FAITHFULNESS endures forever! May our life CONSISTENTLY praise God for His great and patient love and HIS ENDURING FAITHFULNESS eager for all to appropriately respond to the eternal hope He offers.
