His!
Pharaoh thought He was in power. However, he eventually learned that neither he, nor his magicians -- though they seemed to acknowledge the reality first after only the third plague ( Exodus 8:18-19) -- were any match for God. The power of God was displayed not only in each of the plagues, but also in His ability to end them. Following the hail, Moses told Pharaoh that as soon as he left the city he would stretch his hands out to the Lord and the thunder and hail would cease. Moses than noted ". . . so that you may know that THE EARTH IS THE LORD'S." ( Exodus 9:29)
A few days ago I took a long hike in the Olympic mountains. Due to our cooler summer this year (at least until this point) there were still a lot of the wild flowers blooming. Walking through the tall trees, admiring the colors of the mountain meadows and hillsides, viewing the world below from the heights to which I climbed, and listening to the relaxing sound of a creek running from a beautiful mountain lake by which I enjoyed my lunch; all of that lifted my focus toward the One Who CREATED IT ALL! Though there are skilled landscapers and artists who can be praised for their works, there is still nothing like that which the HAND OF GOD has created. We should thank Him for allowing us to enjoy it. After all, it BELONGS TO HIM!
David said it so well where we read. . .
"(1) THE EARTH IS THE LORD'S AND THE FULLNESS THEREOF, THE WORLD AND THOSE WHO DWELL THERIN, (2) for HE HAS FOUNDED IT upon the seas AND ESTABLISHED IT upon the rivers. " ( Psalm 24:1-2 ESV)
Not only the earth and all that is in it, but I belong to Him as well. So do you. How is our life reflecting that? The God Who has the power to create us and the world in which we live also has reserved the power to bring it to an end. ( 2 Peter 3:5-11) May we always be mindful of that relationship and therefore the manner in which we ought to live. It is in HIS HANDS that our life is sustained and given its true beauty now and for eternity.
Have a great day RESTING LIFE IN THE HANDS OF OUR CREATOR!
Carl
