A Prime Reason!

As Paul encouraged the church at Corinth to follow through in their commitment to provide help for needy saints in Judea, he reminded them of their readiness and zeal which had in turn inspired others to give. ( 2 Corinthians 9:1-2) He also noted how their generosity along with that of others would result in overflowing thanks to God. ( 2 Corinthians 9:12)

The fact people have needs is good reason to give when we have it to give. (note 2 Corinthians 8:12) To join in with others to support a worthy cause to the glory of God is also a good thing. For us to give and God to receive the thanks is an indication we have been acknowledged as having been used by God. That is the most worthy use of our life. However, the last verse of chapter 9 provides a prime motivator for cheerful giving.

We read. . .
"Thanks be to God FOR HIS INEXPRESSIBLE GIFT!" ( 2 Corinthians 9:15 ESV)

What a marvelous focus for Paul to use in closing his exhortation on giving. The Salvation, forgiveness of our sins by God's grace and mercy, and every other blessing we HAVE RECEIVED FROM GOD IN CHRIST should instill in us a spirit of generosity as well. God is the GREATEST GIVER and as we are willing to share what we HAVE BEEN BLESSED with, we demonstrate our own appreciation and thanksgiving for what we HAVE RECEIVED. Therefore our life too becomes involved in the overflowing of thanks to God.

Have a great day GIVING AS WE HAVE RECEIVED!
