What It Is For!

We generally try to take care of OUR BODY. We want to live, so we know proper nourishment and regular exercise will enhance the manner in which we are able to go about life. This also helps us to look good. What OUR BODY is involved in is also important when we acknowledge the Creator of it and what OUR BODY is ultimately for. Perhaps that is stated no better than what we find expressed in Paul's first letter to church at Corinth.

We read. . .
"(13) 'Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food' -- and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but FOR THE LORD, and the Lord for the body. (14) And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power. (15) Do you not know that your bodies are MEMBERS OF CHRIST? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! (16) Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, 'The two will become one flesh.' (17) But he who is JOINED TO THE LORD BECOMES ONE SPIRIT WITH HIM. (18) Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the SEXUALLY IMMORAL PERSON SINS AGAINST HIS OWN BODY. (19) Or do you not know that your BODY IS A TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT WITHIN YOU, whom you have from God? You are not your own, (20) for you were bought with a price. So GLORIFY GOD IN YOUR BODY." ( 1 Corinthians 6:13-20 ESV)

Paul made it very clear how closely associated with the Lord we are to consider our body. Our body is MEANT FOR THE LORD. (vs.13) If it is being used merely for our own desires, we are misusing it! Our body is a MEMBER OF CHRIST. (vs.14) Is the connection being retained as we continuing walking in Him? We have been joined with the Lord in ONE SPIRIT WITH HIM. (vs.17) Is that essence made evident in what we choose to involve ourselves? Immoral living is a SIN AGAINST OUR OWN BODY. (vs.18) In this sense it is possible to be our own worst enemy! Our body is where GOD'S SPIRIT DWELLS and is to be considered A HOLY PLACE. (vs.19) How holy does our life look as we go about our day-to-day activities? In our body GOD IS TO BE GLORIFIED. (vs.20) Who most are the actions of our body drawing the attention toward? Our body cannot be disassociated with God, our Lord, or the Holy Spirit or the relationship is not being retained.

What do our choices reflect? What does our life activity declare? Is our body being misused or do we have a proper respect for our body and its association with God? May our daily living reveal our awareness of OUR BODY being MEANT FOR THE LORD. In this way our body will have the glory God created it to possess!

Have a great day GLORIFIED IN GLORIFYING GOD!
