Mind Focused Up!

A MIND-SET. A FIXED FOCUS. Like looking through the scope of a rifle ready to pull the trigger to hit the target, the aim is taken. Is our MINDSET fixed on the proper target? Yes, sometimes shots are missed. However, let that not stop us from shooting, but rather be encouraged to re-aim and try again.

Writing to the church at Colossae, Paul urged. . .
"(1) If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. (2) SET YOUR MINDS ON THINGS THAT ARE ABOVE, not on things that are on earth." ( Colossians 3:1-2 ESV)

Aiming at the earthly we might hit much, but we have aimed too low! Are we FOCUSED up to God's standard or has our aim been brought down? In some circles it almost seems as if there is no expectation of excellence. If people can't achieve, the standard is simply dropped. It's almost like shooting and then painting the target around wherever one happened to hit and then awarding a prize for sharp-shooting. We live in a world that continues to water down concepts of right and wrong until we might begin to wonder if there is any standard at all!

At what have we FOCUSED the "scope" of life? What is the target at which we are aiming? May we keep our sights raise up so that our daily life will reveal the wisdom of God for living life in this realm and preparing for the eternity to come. Life lived to please God rather than merely seeking the approval of men (note Galatians 1:10) is that which is on the mark!
