Proof!

A "Birth Certificate" provides proof that a person was born. A "Death Certificate" provides proof that a person has died. What is it that gives proof of what lay between? It is memories and loved ones who provide proof one has lived. What kind of evidence is our life leaving behind? Everyone leaves behind some kind of memories whether they be bad or good. Therefore it is the type of memories we will leave behind to which we ought to give serious consideration.

The Hebrew writer exhorted. . .
"(7) REMEMBER YOUR LEADERS, those who spoke to you the word of God. CONSIDER THE OUTCOME OF THEIR WAY OF LIFE, and IMITATE THEIR FAITH." ( Hebrews 13:7 ESV)

Not only did these teach the truth, but they lived it as well. Such living was to be kept in REMEMBRANCE. It is not that they were to be reverenced and worshipped, but simply REMEMBERED for the good example their life left behind. (note 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13) Should this not also be what marks the REMEMBRANCE of the life of any Christian?

In Paul's letter to the church at Philippi, he urged. . .
"(17) Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us." ( Philippians 3:17)

Though, like Paul, attention should be ultimately drawn toward the example of Christ ( 1 Corinthians 11:1), following the right examples and living as a right example helps perpetuate what will be worth REMEMBERING by subsequent generations. More than how we die is the significance of how we live. It is the living right which prepares us for dying right. May the evidence we have walked this earth be worth the REMEMBRANCE that leads toward the Lord.

Have a great day MAKING GODLY MEMORIES THAT WILL LIVE ON!
Carl
