Our Passport!

A passport is an official document identifying the person possessing it as having been granted permission by the government of the country of which they are a citizen to travel to and from that country. One of the requirements for a passport is proof of birth. Without a duly notarized passport, entrance can be denied! Home may not be reached.

Where is our citizenship? We may enjoy the privileges and rights of an earthly citizenship -- as even Paul exercised (i.e. Acts 16:36-38; 22:25-29; 25:10-12) -- but what of our spiritual citizenship and the entrance into the heavenly land? Is our "passport" stamped and in order for entrance there?

Paul declared our ultimate citizenship in his letter to the church at Philippi where we read. . .

"(20) BUT OUR CITIZENSHIP IS IN HEAVEN, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, (21) who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power than enables him even to subject all things to himself." ( Philippians 3:20-21 ESV)

Our citizenship is not based on a physical birth, but a spiritual one. We must be born again. ( John 3:3-5) Then, as CITIZENS OF HEAVEN, we are to remain living subject to the authority of Christ. Is our "passport" ready?

In his second letter to Timothy Paul stated. . .
"But God's firm foundation stands, BEARING THIS SEAL: 'THE LORD KNOWS THOSE WHO ARE HIS,' and, "Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.'" ( 2 Timothy 2:19 ESV)

The Lord knows! He is the One who provides the authorization for our access. ( John 14:6) May we be certain our life bears His stamp so that permission to enter eternity with Him will be granted!

Have a great day PREPARED FOR GOING HOME!
