Coupled With Belief! (part 2 of 2)
Not an unbeliever, but a believer. That is what we are to be. That is made evident by the manner in which we respond to God's Word. When we read or hear God's message, do we always couple it with belief? Writing to the church at Rome, Paul asserted his focus on God's Word and the power it has when believed.
We read. . .
"(16) For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the POWER OF GOD FOR SALVATION TO EVERYONE WHO BELIEVES, to the Jew first and also to the Greek." ( Romans 1:16 ESV)
God's Word -- POWER TO THOSE WHO BELIEVE. To others, it's just a book. There are many who quote the Scriptures when they seem to suit their purposes, but to believe it is TO LIVE IT! To believers it is not just a book, but God's Book; the declaration of His Will for mankind. It is the BIBLE: Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. Yes, now is the time to come to grips with its truths.
Writing to the church at Thessalonica, Paul stated. . .
"(13) And we also thank God constantly for this, that when YOU RECEIVED THE WORD OF GOD, which YOU HEARD FROM US, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, THE WORD OF GOD, WHICH IS AT WORK IN YOU BELIEVERS." ( 1 Thessalonians 2:13)
Is this the manner in which we have received God's Word? If so, are we experiencing ITS POWER AT WORK in our life? Since God's Word is "living and active" ( Hebrews 4:12) it can still powerfully impact our life today!
What then marks our conviction regarding God's Word? Perhaps you have heard it said, "God said it! I believe it! And that settles it!" Though that sounds good, our conviction in view of it being GOD'S Word should actually be: "God said it and that settles it whether I believe it or not!" With that settled in our mind, let us then do believe it and live it!
Have a great day ALLOWING GOD'S WORD TO REMAIN AT WORK IN US!
