I Was Made For This!

We might think of a lot of purposes for which we have been given life. Most of the things which may come to mind are glorious purposes. We may consider being made to praise and glorify God. We may think of being made to serve God. We may acknowledge our purpose of seeking and saving the lost by means of sharing the Gospel of Jesus. And the list can go on. However, consider an ultimate purpose noted by Paul for which we have been made.

Paul addressed the ultimate purpose for which we were made in this way:
"(1) For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. (2) For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling, (3) if indeed by putting it on we may not be found naked. (4) For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened -- not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. (5) HE who HAS PREPARED US FOR THIS VERY THING is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee." ( 2 Corinthians 5:1-5 ESV)

God's purpose for us is that we LIVE! We were made to LIVE! Jesus came that we could LIVE to the full! ( John 10:10) And in Him we are assured of LIVING eternally.

We were made for the purpose of being changed; having the mortal "swallowed up by life." We were made to be mortal (temporary) on earth, yet created to be changed to LIVE eternally in Heaven. God's intent was not for us to be left here, but rather to be with Him forever! We were made to someday possess eternal life! We were made to become eternal beings with God! Yes, we were made "FOR THIS VERY THING"! May we yield completely to God's good and everlasting purpose for our life!
