Here Is Water! (part 2 of 2)

Water. A life NECESSITY! Something that can bring JOY to life! That which can also bring a sense of CALM and REFRESHMENT! Not only is this true physically, but even more so spiritually. As we noted yesterday God's Divine power associated with water, that association goes further spiritually as well.

When an Ethiopian treasurer was reading from the prophet Isaiah as he traveled in his chariot from Jerusalem back to Ethiopia, Philip was sent to connect with him. ( Acts 8:26-29) Philip explained to this man how the passage in Isaiah pointed toward Jesus, the Messiah, and shared the "good news about Jesus." ( Acts 8:35)

Then we read. . .
"(36) And as they were going along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, "SEE, HERE IS WATER! WHAT PREVENTS ME FROM BEING BAPTIZED?" (38) And he commanded the chariot to stop, and THEY BOTH WENT DOWN INTO THE WATER, Philip and the eunuch, AND HE BAPTIZED HIM. (39) And when THEY CAME UP OUT OF THE WATER, the Spirit of the Lord carried Philip away, and THE EUNUCH saw him no more, and WENT ON HIS WAY REJOICING." ( Acts 8:36-39 ESV)

Here was a new beginning for this believer. Not that there was power in the water itself, but associated with the power of God through the blood of Jesus Christ, this man was united with Christ in the likeness of Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection ( Romans 6:3-4) Having been baptized into Christ, he had put Him on. ( Galatians 3:27)

Whether we focus on God's power associated with water in a physical or spiritual sense, His power is amazing! God is the great SEPARATER! He is the great RESTORER! He is the great CALMER! He is the great SAVIOR! All of this is experienced as we come into a right relationship with Him. Being united with Christ in baptism we are separated from our sins ( Romans 6:1-2) and the penalty due us. In Christ we are delivered from the wrath of God as well. ( Romans 5:9) We are also RESTORED into a right relationship with God where we can experience the CALMING peace that comes from knowing we are saved. Oh, how REFRESHING a blessing this is to our soul.

Though the power comes from God, water is still a NECESSITY for even our spiritual life. ( Mark 16:16; 1 Peter 3:21) Being willing to submit as the Ethiopian treasurer, may we not be hindered or prevented! JOY now and for eternity will be the result. Praise God for such a provision in Christ, even in connection with water.

Have a great day ACKNOWLEDGING THE WATER IN GOD'S PLAN!
Carl
