Smorgasbord Or Full Meal Deal?
There are some things which we may find HARD TO SWALLOW. However, I find it amazing how some will try anyway. Now, I'm not talking about circus sword swallowers or glass eaters, or even others who have gained notoriety for cutting up a bicycle into small pieces and ingesting it. What amazes me is how blind some are to the ideas they will eat up and digest as truth or how easily they will reject one point of Scripture while holding so strongly to another rather than seeing the manner in which it all fits together.
Note a reference Jesus made regarding some of the religious leaders of that day.
"(23) Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. (24) You blind guides, STRAINING OUT A GNAT AND SWALLOWING A CAMEL!" ( Matthew 23:23-24 ESV)
That may sound funny (and perhaps prompted a chuckle from some of the listeners), but the point here was a serious one. There are many ideas today we should consider as unpalatable. Jesus made the above statement to those who were living under the Jewish Law. For us, when it comes to God's Word, we should continue to develop a taste for all that is there. God did not lay His commands before us as a SMORGASBORD to pick and choose what we consider palatable to our own personal tastes. What He has laid before us is a FULL MEAL DEAL to satisfy and nourish every aspect of our life. May we find great joy in the daily feast!
Have a great day FEASTING ON GOD'S WORD!
Carl
