Light!
Light! It makes a huge difference for life. Its significance can even be noted from the fact when God began creation, He started with light. ( Genesis 1:3) Without light we would find ourselves stumbling around in darkness.
Now, not all light is the same. There is TRUE LIGHT and there is artificial light. Some living in regions with many grey days are severely impacted by the lack of the natural and direct sunlight. These individuals suffer a mood disorder referred to as "Seasonal Affective Disorder ("S.A.D.") which is also known as winter depression or winter blues. For such sufferers, they either have to move to a region with more sunshine or rely on special lamps which replicate the natural lighting of the sun.
As John introduced both the Jesus the Messiah and John the Baptist in his gospel, he stated . . .
"(6) There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. (7) He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. (8) He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light. (9) THE TRUE LIGHT, which ENLIGHTENS EVERYONE, was coming into the world." ( John 1:6-9 ESV )
Though John was enlightening others by directing the attention toward "THE TRUE LIGHT", he was not that light himself. His calling was to point others toward the TRUE LIGHT sent to enlighten everyone; Jesus, THE SON of God! Though many sadly rejected the TRUE LIGHT, those who did accept and chose to live in the TRUE LIGHT received "grace upon grace." ( John 1:16)
What a blessing to be living in the LIGHT OF THE SON! It is through Jesus we have been given "the right to become children of God." ( John 1:12) It is also in living in the TRUE LIGHT that we have the continuing forgiveness of our sins. ( 1 John 1:7) Without THE SON -- the TRUE LIGHT of the world ( John 8:12) -- it would be a sad life we would live and a sad eternity we would spend. Continuing to follow Him we will not walk in darkness ( John 8:12) and will someday live in the realm of never ending day. ( Revelation 21:23-25) Praise God for the TRUE LIGHT He has provided!
Have a great day BEING GLAD WE LIVE IN THE LIGHT OF THE SON!
Carl
