Worthy Of Trust!

Paul, writing to the young evangelist Timothy, declared. . .
"(15) THE SAYING IS TRUSTWORTHY and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. (16) But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life." ( 1 Timothy 1:15-16 ESV)

What was the TRUSTWORTHY saying? Was it that Jesus came into the world to save sinners? Or was it that Paul was the foremost of sinners? I think actually both in Paul's view! Can you hear him saying, "Trust me, it's all true!" He knew what His life had been and he knew the power of God's forgiveness and grace. It was in light of that reality he assured others they could receive the same blessing. The great encouragement of salvation in Christ is the TRUSTWORTHINESS of the power of His blood to deal with even the foremost or worst of sinners.

May we never think we have stayed away so long or strayed so far that we can't return to the embrace of His grace. (That's part of the message of the lost son in Luke 15.) Also, may we continue to hold that message of hope out to others who may have led themselves to believe all that is left for them is deep despair. Paul pointed to his own life as an example of God's desire and ability to save. The adequate means of salvation has been fulfilled in Christ for everyone who will turn and submit to His Will. Paul stated this TRUSTWORTHY saying deserves our "full acceptance". So let us accept the TRUSTWORTHINESS of God's provision that brings us hope, peace, and eternal glory. Trust me, we need it. Trust me, He will provide it.

Have a great day BELIEVING THE ONE ETERNALLY WORTHY OF OUR TRUST!
Carl
