Substance Source!
Sometimes we may find ourselves struggling in our perception of the lives of others. How often in life are those who are well off honored and envied while the impoverished are looked down upon. The view seems to be that one is better off than the other, but in reality which one truly is? Could the impoverished actually be in a better position than the wealthy? Wealth has its challenges. (i.e. 1 Timothy 6:9-10) Is a distinction made that ought not to be made? (note James 2:1-7)
In one of the psalms of David we read. . .
"(9) Those of low estate are but A BREATH; those of high estate are A DELUSION; in the balances they go up; they are TOGETHER LIGHTER THAN A BREATH. (10) Put no trust in extortion; set no vain hopes on robbery; if riches increase, set not your heart on them." ( Psalm 62:9-10 ESV)
Those of low estate (the poor) or those of "high estate" (the wealthy) are noted as "but a breath" and "a delusion" respectively. Which is the better focus? Which would we desire to characterize our life? Then the focus turned to both together being "lighter than a breath." Neither are noted as having much substance; at least not in and of themselves relative to what they either lack or possess. Note where the TRUST, HOPE and HEART were not to be centered! Anytime the TRUST is centered in ourselves and what we possess, our focus is out of balance.
Where the TRUST is centered. That's what it is really all about. And the sooner in life we recognize this, the better off we will be as we press on in life and begin setting our life goals.
Backing up a few verses we read. . .
"(5) For GOD ALONE, O my soul, wait in silence, for MY HOPE IS FROM HIM. (6) He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. (7) On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. (8)TRUST IN HIM AT ALL TIMES, O people; POUR OUT YOUR HEART BEFORE HIM; God is a refuge for us." ( Psalm 62:5-8 ESV)
Notice how David's focus was centered in God. That's where stability for his life was found. God was the source of his salvation, his glory, and safety. Therefore David urged others to TRUST IN GOD AT ALL TIMES! It is to God to Whom we are to pour out our heart in prayer as we earnestly and sincerely seek His guidance and help to carry us through this life and into the glorious eternity He has prepared for us. It is God who breathed into man's nostrils the breathe of life ( Genesis 2:7) Who can still breathe substance into our life today. May our daily life reflect how much OUR TRUST truly is in Him regardless of life status or situation.
Have a great day EXPERIENCING THE HIGH LIFE GOD PROVIDES!
