Love Relationship!

Today is celebrated by many as "Valentine's Day". Generally the focus has become one of school children exchanging cute cards and adults giving flowers, candy, or perhaps sharing a candlelight dinner with the one they love. A recurring expression associated with this day is the simple statement "Be Mine!" Some of the acknowledgments of these loving relationships may be anything from a simple gift or gesture to something quite lavish.

John wrote. . .
"See what KIND OF LOVE THE FATHER HAS GIVEN TO US, that we should BE CALLED CHILDREN OF GOD; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him." ( 1 John 3:1)

Where the English Standard Version has the word "given" (from the Greek "didomi"), other translations use the expression "bestowed" (KJV, NKJV, ASV, NASB) or "lavished" (NIV). God's love has been lavishly extended in so many ways. The word translated "kind" (or "manner" in other translations) is from the Greek "potapas" which first refers to "from what country" and then "what sort or quality". It is not a love from this world, but the exotic love of Heaven that has granted us the privilege of being GOD'S CHILDREN.

God's desire is for humanity to respond to His Divine plea to "Be Mine!" He wants us as His very own. ( 1 Peter 2:9) And it is through Christ we have been provided this privilege. ( John 1:12) Though we ought to develop genuine loving relationships with others, still, more than being someone's valentine may we rejoice in being known as CHILDREN OF GOD! Let us remain His!

Have a great day LIVING IN A MANNER THAT CLEARLY REVEALS WE ARE HIS!
