Finest Craftmanship!

I have an Appalachian dulcimer (also known as a mountain dulcimer) which has 4 strings (tuned depending on song played with 2 strings being fingered while the other 2 serving as drone strings). My violins each have 4 strings. I have a 6 string guitar as well as a 12 string. My hammer dulcimer has 50 strings. We used to have a piano (its been replaced by an electronic keyboard) with 88 keys, which means it had 88 strings inside. (Yes, a piano is technically a string instrument.) Besides the sound of these instruments being appreciated, their craftsmanship can be as well. The right kind of wood, the wood's shaping, the varnish used, and the manner in which a stringed instrument is put together (whether 4 strings or 88) makes it beautiful to look at as well as to hear. There is balance and symmetry to an instrument and its acoustic soundness is what the time in the crafting process is all about. So WONDROUSLY MADE! However, what of all of that without the EAR TO HEAR and appreciate the sound?

I recently came across a reference to the ACOUSTIC MARVEL we know as the ear. It was noted that the inner ear is like a keyboard with 15,000 keys; the number of different tones the ear is able to detect. Checking the internet for more information on the ear I found that the human ear is able to hear a frequency range from 20 to 15,000 Hertz. However, in addition to the importance of distinguishing tones, the ear also serves to control equilibrium for the body. Therefore, THE EAR CREATED BY GOD IS A DUAL PURPOSE INSTRUMENT. (This is aside from ears also being useful for holding a pencil and helping support eyeglasses and even a hat.)

The psalmist David wrote. . .
"(13) For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. (14) I praise you, for I AM FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE. WONDERFUL ARE YOUR WORKS; my soul knows it very well." ( Psalm 139:13-14 ESV)

Yes, so VERY WONDERFULLY AND WONDROUSLY MADE! Though the ear is only one small aspect of the wondrous body God created, may we appreciate HIS CRAFTMANSHIP, utilizing our ears in ways that glorify the Creator and enhance our relationship with Him. That includes listening to His message.

Have a great day KEEPING THE EAR IN TUNE WITH ITS MAKER!
