Answers Still The Same!

During some devotional and prayer time with several men of our congregation, one of them mentioned how the same problems and challenges of mankind have continued to come up throughout history. Though technology and the level of living have changed, mankind's basic needs and troubles remain the same. Should it surprise us that wise Solomon even stated with regard to life lived in general in this world. . .

"(9) What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is NOTHING NEW under the sun." ( Ecclesiastes 1:9 ESV)

I pointed out there is great encouragement in this fact about mankind and life. If the problems are the same then that means THE ANSWERS are STILL THE SAME!

Some want to say the Bible -- God's Word -- is out-dated and old fashioned. They want to view it as yesterday's news. The truth is the Gospel is not "old news", but rather is still "Good News" to meet mankind's continual struggle with sin which is related to so many of this world's problems. And besides the truths linked to eternal salvation, the Bible continues to be the best guide for all of living. It presents a boost to our self-esteem since we realize we are not some blob that climbed out of the goo or some cosmic accident that occurred at some point in time, but instead were created by God in His image ( Genesis 1:26-27). The Bible is also the best guide for interpersonal relationships as it directs against selfishness and toward the valuing of others.

May we find comfort that GOD'S ANSWERS are still the best. After all, since He is the One who got life started in the first place, why shouldn't He be the One with the answers on how to go through it? May we continue to seek HIS ANSWERS to life's questions!
