Already An App For That!

It seems there is a new "App" (application) being made for something all the time. So many things can be easily downloaded and utilized on today's mobile devices. This past week the news (both newspaper and other media) reported on the $1.99 "Confession App" for the IPAD or iPhone. It was reportedly seen by the designers as a means to spur Catholics back into the habit of repentance through the use of their mobile devices. However, it apparently did not have the sanction of that group as being sufficient.

We should all recognize the need to keep the heart open to confession and repentance so that the blessing of forgiveness can be received. ( 1 John 1:9) However, THERE IS ALREADY AN APP FOR THAT! In the confessing to and praying for one another ( James 5:16), in Christ God has already provided the means of forgiveness.

In Paul's letter to the church at Ephesus he encouraged. . .
"(7) In him we have REDEMPTION THROUGH HIS BLOOD, the FORGIVENESS OF OUR TRESPASSES, according to the riches of his grace," ( Ephesians 1:7 ESV)

JESUS' BLOOD has been given and -- APPLIED to our life -- we have forgiveness. HIS BLOOD is powerful enough to cleanse us from all sin. ( 1 John 1:7) By HIS BLOOD He has freed us from our sins ( Revelation 1:5) and brought us near to God. ( Ephesians 2:13) It is by HIS BLOOD we are justified and saved from God's wrath. ( Romans 5:9) In our continued relationship with Jesus that continued blessing is ours! ( 1 John 1:7)

Praise God for the adequacy of the power of JESUS' BLOOD as He stands as the "advocate with the Father" ( 1 John 2:1), mediating on our behalf. As Paul noted Jesus as the "one mediator between God and men" ( 1 Timothy 2:5) may we rejoice in being able to turn to Him any time of the day or night with a penitent heart to receive the forgiveness we need.
