A Fashion Statement!
Are your clothes "in" or "out". Do you dress to make a "fashion statement"? Is the logo or tag on your clothing an important issue to you? Do you feel what you wear says something about the "real" you?
At the least, your clothing says something about your tastes. However, a monkey in a three-piece suit is still a monkey whether the suit was purchased at a tux shop or a thrift store. Still, there is clothing which does say something about us. There is a wardrobe which -- in a real sense -- makes a huge FASHION STATEMENT. Paul, in his letter to the church at Colosse, stated. . .
"(12) PUT ON then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, COMPASSION, KINDNESS, HUMILITY, MEEKNESS, and PATIENCE, (13) bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. (14) And above all these PUT ON LOVE, WHICH BINDS EVERYTHING TOGETHER in perfect harmony." ( Colossians 3:12-14 ESV)
The "PUT ON" in verse 12 could also be properly translated "CLOTHE" yourselves. The FASHION STATEMENT such attire from God's wardrobe makes is considered out of style by some today. However, in God's eyes these garments have always been and always will be in fashion. In fact, to wear them is to be as best dressed as possible. These garments are fit for any occasion. These garments won't clash with each other either. These garments are also appropriate in any culture. Beautiful garments of compassion, kindness, humility, meekness (or gentleness), and patience -- all held together by love. We could perhaps think of the love either as the stitching or the belt that holds it all in place.
If the label is important, then consider the versatility, beauty, and style of God's brand. Let us be clothed with that which bears His label.
Have a great day BEING AMONG THE BEST DRESSED!
