Rabbit Stew!
Though there may be many variations to recipes for rabbit stew, one must never lose sight of the NUMBER ONE INGREDIENT. Someone has noted that an old recipe for rabbit began with the injunction: "First catch the rabbit." Perhaps we would say that's a no brainer. We might claim that's a given. However, this recipe made it clear how one must put FIRST THINGS FIRST. When PRIORITIES are being set, that is what must be done. And whether we are beginning a new year, a new week, or a new day, it is good to give consideration to and refocus on what we hold as our PRIORITIES.
Many seem to be planning and living life without duly considering the NUMBER ONE INGREDIENT; GOD and a right relationship with Him. Without that NUMBER ONE INGREGIENT life's plate may be full, but not complete. As "rabbit stew" will never be "rabbit stew" without the rabbit, life without a right connection with God will not be life. The relationship we have with the Father through the Son is of paramount significance.
John stated. . .
"Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life." ( 1 John 5:12 ESV)
Israel was commanded to not have any gods before (or besides) God. ( Exodus 20:3) He was to be their ONE AND ONLY. Does God desire any less today? What do our PRIORITIES say about God and our relationship to Him? How do our PRIORITIES line up with His? How are they associated with His Will? What do our PRIORITIES reflect as most important to us? Do some indicate God as having second place (or lower) or that He is truly the NUMBER ONE INGREDIENT in our life?
Even in view of all the necessities of life, Jesus exhorted. . .
"(33) But SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, and all these things will be added to you." ( Matthew 6:33 ESV)
God -- being the Originator and Sustainer of life -- must remain the NUMBER ONE INGREDIENT in it. Only then can we live a life that can be savored now and for eternity. Yes, "taste and see that the LORD is good!" ( Psalm 34:8)
Have a great day KEEPING LIFE'S RECIPE RIGHT!
