Life Valued!

God is the Creator and sustainer of life. His power and wisdom for life are displayed through the account of His creation in the beginning of this earthly realm. What was created the first day set the stage for that which He spoken into existence the second day and so forth on down to the creation of animals and man on the sixth day. ( Genesis 1) We do not have to read very far into the Scriptures to find God's focus toward the value of life and the seriousness of taking it. ( Genesis 9) How sad we have to read of murder touching the very first human family. ( Genesis 4) If only Cain had seen himself not as his "brother's keeper" ( Genesis 4:9), but as his brother's brother!/

Following the flood brought on the earth because of the great wickedness ( Genesis 6:3) of mankind, after Noah and his family left the ark, God -- speaking to Noah and his sons -- stated. . .

"(5) And for your lifeblood I WILL REQUIRE A RECKONING: from every beast I will require it and from man. From his fellow man I WILL REQUIRE A RECKONING for the life of man. (6) 'Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image." ( Genesis 9:5 ESV)

Life is valued by God. Should it be any wonder since He is the Creator of it? It even pains Him when such judgment must be handed out by Him. (note Genesis 8:21-23; 9:11 and Ezekiel 18:23 & 30) It is repentance He desires. Each day He provides is a sign of His patience providing the opportunity for repentance and turning to Him. ( 2 Peter 3:9) However, even Peter reminded his readers that a TIME OF RECKONING is coming. ( 2 Peter 3:10) Therefore let us value not only life, but the souls of those around us as we continue to share the message of hope in Christ for life eternal.
