From Good To Better!
Some things in this life don't appear to get any better. Instead they seem to go from bad to worse. Not only does this characterize some life situations, but the very lives of individuals who don't seem to be able to get their life on the right track. When the right focuses are not maintained and the righteousness of God is not acknowledged and pursued, we cannot expect things to get better.
In Paul's second letter to Timothy he noted. . .
"(12) Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, (13) while evil people and impostors will go on FROM BAD TO WORSE, DECEIVING AND BEING DECEIVED." ( 2 Timothy 3:12-13 ESV)
Those bent on deceiving seem to ultimately get caught up in their own deception and are deceived even further. The life spirals deeper and deeper into believing that which is false and the ability to discern truth from falsehood gets lost. Ultimately such people can come to a point where God gives them over to believing what is false. ( 1 Thessalonians 2:11-12)
It is in BELIEVING that life continues moving the right direction. Seeing some of what is occurring in this world presently may cause us to get discouraged. However, BELIEVING in the promises of God and the deliverance we are assured of in Christ should cause us to see life with a sense of hope and peace. Living in such a manner makes what we BELIEVE more BELIEVABLE with its positive impact visible in our approach to daily living.
Peter exhorted Christians going through trying times . . .
"(11) Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. (12) KEEP YOUR CONDUCT AMONG THE GENTILES HONORABLE, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, THEY MAY SEE YOUR GOOD DEEDS AND GLORIFY GOD on the day of visitation." ( 1 Peter 2:11-12 ESV)
Being BELIEVERS is good for us. However, being BELIEVABLE (by the consistency with which we live our Christian life) is even better because it testifies to the genuineness of our faith and may result in others coming to BELIEVE as well. The more we BELIEVE the more BELIEVABLE our life will become. It will continue to move from good to better as others may be influenced that direction as well. May God be so glorified!
Have a great day GROWING IN CONVINCING GODLINESS!
