Admiration Or Adoration?
To ADMIRE someone is to be pleased with them. It is to approve, appreciate, or respect them. Our English word "admire" comes from the Latin "admirari" which means to "wonder at". To ADORE someone is to love them deeply or intensely. Our English word "adore" comes from the Latin "adorare" which means to "pray to". We may admire many people. Associating with people with admirable qualities encourages the same to be developed and possessed ourselves. In fact our focus ought to center on what is admirable or commendable. ( Philippians 4:8) However, our Lord should not merely be the recipient of our admiration, but rather our sincere ADORATION! Such intensity serves to draw us to WORSHIP HIM and seek to PLEASE HIM rather than merely our own selves.
In Revelation we find the words of the song of Moses and the song of the Lamb where we read. . .
"(3) And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, 'Great and amazing are your deeds, O Lord God the Almighty! Just and true are your ways, O King of the nations! (4) Who will not fear, O Lord, and GLORIFY YOUR NAME? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and WORSHIP YOU, for your righteous acts have been revealed." (Revelations 15:3-4 ESV)
How much does that sound like our own focus toward the Lord? May that be the focus of our heart, our praise, and our very life! Let our day-to-day living demonstrate how much we truly ADORE OUR LORD, the Lamb of God given on our behalf. He indeed is worthy!
Have a great day LIVING A LIFE OF PRAISE AND WORSHIP TOWARD CHRIST!
