The Time For Activity Is Now!

Solomon noted. . .
"(4) But HE WHO IS JOINED WITH ALL THE LIVING HAS HOPE, for a living dog is better than a dead lion." ( Ecclesiastes 9:4 ESV)

AS LONG AS THERE IS LIFE THERE IS HOPE! When the life is gone the opportunities cease for any further preparations relative to the eternity that follows. However, regardless of the condition of the life -- whether it is characterized as a wild dog or a royal lion -- there is still hope as long as there is life.

NOW IS THE TIME FOR ACTIVITY! Now is the time for preparation! Now is the time to get things in order! The time will come when such activity ceases. If we say we will do it "tomorrow", we are making a dangerous gamble. Today is the day for action!

Lord willing, we will make the transition from 2010 to 2011. This time of year often brings a focus on New Year's resolutions. Some resolve to make none so they break none. However, without a plan or goal how do we keep ourselves moving forward or how can we check our progress?

Each day we have is a gift from God. Each day is an opportunity to resolve to use life to His glory. Each day is another chance to bring our life more in line with His will. Each day to which we awake is the first day of the rest of our life!

DO OUR RESOLUTIONS HAVE GOD IN MIND? What is it He wants to make of our life? What is that for which He wants to use us? What is it we have not yet fully died to? What is it we have not yet handed over to Him?

DO OUR RESOLUTIONS HAVE GOD'S FAMILY IN MIND? What is our role within the family? What gift have we perhaps left untapped or undeveloped? What kind of attachment do we have to our brethren?

DO OUR RESOLUTIONS HAVE THE WORLD IN MIND? Are we focused on being the salt and light this world needs? Are we focused to revealing how practical God's Will is for daily living by the example of our life through our day-to-day activities? Are we set to show how godly living can still take place in the midst of an ungodly world?

DO OUR RESOLUTIONS HAVE ETERNITY IN MIND? What direction are our choices taking us? What are our greatest joys linked to? Where are our treasures being laid up? Where is the attachment of our heart?

Each of these questions deserves our serious consideration and prayer. I don't know all that may come with the New Year. I don't even know all that tomorrow may hold. Still, though I may not know what the future holds, I KNOW WHO HOLDS THE FUTURE! I resolve to entrust my life to Him now so that I am prepared to meet Him in eternity!

Have a great day OF RESOLVE TO THE GLORY OF GOD!
Carl
