The Greatest!

What is the greatest gift we have ever given another? What is the greatest gift we have ever received? Maybe what comes to mind is something of more sentimental than monetary value. Perhaps what has come to mind are spiritual things; blessings money cannot buy. God -- being the Greatest Giver of the "good" and "perfect" gifts ( James 1:17) -- provided the means of meeting our GREATEST NEED through the GREATEST GIFT! Being saved from our sins and so receiving the hope of eternal life is the GREATEST NEED we have had. There is much we can live without, but where would we be without such a blessing and hope? This need was met by the giving of the GREATEST GIFT; God's own Son to die on the cross in our place. Knowing God's ability and willingness to give in such a way, do we ever question His mindfulness of our life?

Paul encouraged. . .
"(31) What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? (32) He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, HOW WILL HE NOT ALSO WITH HIM GRACIOUSLY GIVE US ALL THINGS?" ( Romans 8:31-32 ESV)

We may rightly conclude that God does not give us everything we want. What often becomes of a child whose parent does that? However, He has provided everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of and relationship with Jesus. (note 2 Peter 1:3) To know God was willing to give His own Son is to encourage us to recognize He will also provide for other needs as well.
