Fight T _ _ th Decay!

The things we want to last are worth a daily investment. Several years ago I came across the statement "Be true to your teeth or they will be "false" to you!" Good advise for anyone who does not wish to be limited to a soft-food diet.

Without regular attention and proper care DECAY gradually begins to take place. That DECAY often begins to occur below the surface and the damage can be done before it's realized! This is true whether we are referring to our teeth, our cars, our homes, or whatever. Someone has said: "Fight TRUTH DECAY -- study the Bible daily." [source: bulletin clipping]

Even the spiritual mind needs regular attention and proper care or, there too, DECAY will gradually begin to take place. The sad commentary on God's people during the time of the prophet Hosea is expressed where we read. . .

"(6) MY PEOPLE ARE DESTROYED FOR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children." ( Hosea 4:6 ESV)

Israel's poor spiritual condition did not arise overnight. Their situation had been due to a downward spiral that had taken place over many years. The "Oral Surgeon" had a message Israel needed to hear and respond to in order to regain their place at the table of God's blessings. At the "root" of their problem was a poor choice of "spiritual diet" as they had followed the way of idolatry. The "root" had become infected throughout the nation and they were in need of a "root canal" to go to the heart of the problem. God's desire was to renew His relationship with Israel in a way that would put a wholesome smile back on their faces.

We must give daily attention to our spiritual lives for the sake of fighting TRUTH DECAY in our own heart. Then we will be strengthened to fight TRUTH DECAY around us as well.

Paul declared. . .
"(7) I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I HAVE KEPT THE FAITH. (8) Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing." ( 2 Timothy 4:7-8 ESV)

"I have KEPT THE FAITH!" "I have HELD TO THE TRUTH!" May this become the affirmation of our own lives as we seek to please God through our manner of daily living!

Have a great day BRUSHING UP ON YOUR BIBLE KNOWLEDGE!
Carl
