Praise The Lord!
Throughout the psalms we find God's people encouraged to praise the Lord. One of those passages is where we read. . .
"(1) PRAISE THE LORD! Praise, O servants of the LORD, PRAISE THE NAME OF THE LORD! (2) Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and forevermore! (3) From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of THE LORD IS TO BE PRAISED!" ( Psalm 113:1-3 ESV)
The Hebrew here translated PRAISE is "halal" and LORD is "yah". Together we have "hallelu-yah" which means "praise the Lord" and from which comes our word "hallelujah".
When is God to be praised? The psalmist stated, "From the rising of the sun to its setting." There are two ways to consider this expression. One is that from the east (rising sun) to the west (setting sun) God is to be praised in the sense of all people ought to praise the Lord. Another way of considering this is from the time the sun rises until it sets, meaning ALL DAY LONG God ought to be praised! In our conversation He is to be praised. In our actions He is to be praised. In our choices He is to be praised. In our thinking He is to be praised. At all times and in everything we do, God is to be praised! However, we should still not let the sun set on our praise. Through the day and even in the dark of night, may the Lord be praised with our whole being!
Have a great day LIVING LIFE AS A HALLELUJAH TO GOD!
