Guard It!
What we deposit in the bank is what we can draw from. That is what we have available for our use. When it is properly valued we tend to guard it. If it has been entrusted to us by another, then we should surely safeguard it closely. If it is counterfeit, we would neither guard it nor try to use it.
Paul urged Timothy. . .
"(20) O Timothy, GUARD THE DEPOSIT ENTRUSTED TO YOU. Avoid the irreverent babble and contradictions of what is falsely called 'knowledge,' (21) for by professing it some have swerved from the faith. Grace be with you." ( 1 Timothy 6:20-21 ESV)
As Paul noted false teachers earlier in this letter ( 1 Timothy 6:3-4), they were ones drawing from that which was not the truth. It was babble and ideologies that contradicted the truth and was falsely called "knowledge". Those who accepted it would only find themselves departing from the faith. Therefore, Timothy was urged to "guard the DEPOSIT ENTRUSTED" to him; which would have been the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was from the truth of the GOSPEL OF JESUS that Timothy's life was to be based and his teaching was to be drawn.
Are we also GUARDING that truth entrusted to us? Recognizing it is from the GOSPEL OF JESUS that life is drawn -- since it is only through Christ that we now have access to the Father ( John 14:6) -- for our sake and the sake of others it is what we must steadfastly hold onto. Though others may be banking on other ideologies, let us continue to base our life choices on the solid foundation of Jesus Christ. It is in Jesus and the "Good News" relative to Him that we have God's grace with us.
Have a great day ACKNOWLEDGING HOW TRULY GOOD THE GOOD NEWS IS!
