Believe It!

Some things are so amazing they are hard to believe. Such good things can happen to us that we exclaim, "I can't believe it!" And though those may be the words we use, WE DO BELIEVE because we are experiencing it. Perhaps our view is such because we know we didn't deserve what we had received. Or we may have simply been amazingly surprised at the great kindness extended by another. Being overwhelmed as if it were a dream, we are greatly encouraged because WE KNOW it is real!

As John addressed the relationship we can have with God, he encouraged. . .

"(16) So WE HAVE COME TO KNOW AND TO BELIEVE THE LOVE THAT GOD HAS FOR US. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. (17) By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world." ( 1 John 4:16-17 ESV)

Isn't GOD'S LOVE amazing? Even while we were still sinners God demonstrated HIS LOVE by sending His Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins. ( Romans 5:8; 1 John 4:10) Living in Christ we are the recipients of God's blessings both now and for eternity. It is not presumptive to acknowledge the salvation God has said is ours in Christ. TO KNOW was one of the reasons for which John wrote ( 1 John 5:13) and that knowing should fill us with confidence as we move through each day God provides.

Every blessing and promise of God is a declaration of HIS GREAT LOVE for us. Through God's Word He has told us HE LOVES us. Through His work of redemption God has demonstrated how much HE LOVES us. And the fact He wants us to remain in a covenant relationship with Him and to abide (dwell or live) in us also reveals how much HE LOVES us; the closeness of the relationship He desires to exist.

Yes, having "come to know" HIS LOVE, let us forever believe it. Let us help others come to understand it is for them too if they will also unite their life to the Father in Christ. May we never question how much God truly does LOVE us.
