Misplaced Blame!

It seems that when things go wrong the search begins for someone to blame. Some even try to claim they are the victim when what they are experiencing is the result of their own actions. Even when the wrong person gets blamed there still seems to be some satisfaction that the focus is at least off of self being at fault. The "blame game" has been around since it was first played by Adam and Eve in the garden. ( Genesis 3:12-13) Sometimes it is even God who gets the blame when things go wrong.

Solomon noted this where we read. . .
"(3) When a man's folly brings his way to ruin, HIS HEART RAGES AGAINST THE LORD." ( Proverbs 19:3 ESV)

The New Century Version reads. . . "People's own foolishness ruins their lives, but in their minds they blame the LORD." [The Everyday Bible: NCV, © 2005, Nashville, TN.: Thomas Nelson, Inc.]

There are actually two blunders made by such a one. First, they have chosen the way of folly rather than the Way of God. Secondly, when they reap according to what they have sown (i.e. Galatians 6:7-8), rather than accepting the blame their anger is turned toward God. It is foolishness to think one can reap something different than what they have sown in life. Just as ridiculous as it would be for a farmer to plant wheat and then get mad at his harvesters because he decides he wants corn instead, so it also makes no sense to get enraged at God for ruin that comes to one's life when God's Way has been ignored. Such is to fault God with lacking His essence of goodness, love, and righteousness.

Let us be honest regarding the results of our own choices. Then turn to God for the guidance He provides in the right direction. And even when we don't understand why we might be on the receiving end of some misfortune, may we -- like Job -- bless the Name of the Lord anyway. ( Job 2:21) Ultimately God will bring us through it and into His glorious eternity as we continue to walk on with Him.

Have a great day REAPING THE FRUIT OF FOLLOWING GOD'S WAY!
