"An App For That!"

Though I use a simple cell phone, there are many fancy ones with various services available today. People are enabled to keep in touch with others and access information from anywhere they can receive a cell signal. And there are many varying functions that these cell phones come with that range from playing games and watching movies to doing serious work. It seems that almost anything someone wants to do, "There's an App for that."; an APPLICATION on the phone that enables the information search or work to be done.

As we seek guidance for life, though context of Scripture needs to be kept in mind, anywhere we open God's Word we should be able to find an APP FOR THAT! God's Word is relevant to life and as we read, it is in the APPLICATION of God's truths to our life that our understanding is revealed and our life can be blessed.

In Paul's first letter to the church at Corinth he stated. . .
"(6) I HAVE APPLIED ALL THESE THINGS TO MYSELF and Apollos for your benefit, brothers, that you may learn by us NOT TO GO BEYOND WHAT IS WRITTEN, that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another." ( 1 Corinthians 4:6 ESV)

Paul had found the SUFFICIENCY OF GOD'S WORD in all of its APPLICATIONS for living and urged the Corinthians to hold to God's Word in a similar manner. It is all good! It is all worthwhile reading! It is not nonsense!

Paul exhorted the Christians at Philippi. . .
"(9) What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me -- PRACTICE THESE THINGS, and the God of peace will be with you." ( Philippians 4:9 ESV)

The truth of God Paul both taught and exemplified in his own life was to be put into practice. The Philippians were to recognize its APPLICATION in daily living.

Paul asserted in his second letter to Timothy. . .
"(16) ALL SCRIPTURE is breathed out by God and PROFITABLE FOR TEACHING, for REPROOF, for CORRECTION, and for TRAINING IN RIGHTEOUSNESS, (17) that the man of God may be competent, EQUIPPED for every good work." ( 2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV)

Much time may be spent texting, but it is GOD'S TEXT that brings the most significant benefit. If we need encouragement, there's an APP FOR THAT. If we need exhortation or reproof, there's an APP FOR THAT. If we need guidance, there's an AAP FOR THAT. Etc. As we ponder the varied issues and questions of life, let us remember that in God's Word we can find truth that APPLIES and we will be blessed in the APPLICATION of it!
