Action Like His!
Jesus' earthly ministry was concisely -- yet appropriately -- described in Peter's words, "HE WENT ABOUT DOING GOOD. . . ." ( Acts 10:38 ESV) The good Jesus did brought blessing to the lives of others in both physical and spiritual ways. Even those who would not accept Him as the Messiah could not deny the good He did for others. If we are going to be like Jesus, we also ought to be going "ABOUT DOING GOOD."
In his letter to Titus, Paul urged him "to BE A MODEL OF GOOD WORKS." ( Titus 2:7 ESV) Not only was Titus urged to exhort others in DOING GOOD, his life was to exemplify it!
Jesus not only gave Himself to save us, but also for us to become people of GOOD WORKS. Though Heaven is the ultimate goal, being a Christian is also about living appropriately now. That includes serving and meeting the needs of others. Doing so is a Christ-like quality to be seen in our life.
Of our Savior Jesus Christ, Paul wrote. . .
"(14) who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself A PEOPLE for his own possession WHO ARE ZEALOUS FOR GOOD WORKS." ( Titus 2:14 ESV)
Acknowledging we belong to Him we ought to be involved in the GOOD WORKS He desires us to do. It is not works to save us (note Titus 3:5), but works because we are saved and belong to Jesus. Therefore Paul continued in this letter to urge devotion to GOOD WORKS ( Titus 3:8 & 14) It is in this way that we can live fruitful lives ( Titus 3:14) to His glory and praise.
Have a great day FULFILLING THE GOOD WE HAVE OPPORTUNITY TO DO!
Carl
