Profitable Training! (part 9 of 14)

Getting regular exercise can helps us SLEEP BETTER at night. As we continue to be active our body seems more ready to RELAX and REST when we go to bed. The exercise can help ward off stress that would otherwise keep us keyed up and unable to rest.

The Psalmist stated. . .
"(6) There are many who say, 'Who will show us some good? Lift up the light of your face upon us, O LORD!' (7) You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound. (8) IN PEACE I WILL BOTH LIE DOWN AND SLEEP; FOR YOU ALONE, O LORD, MAKE ME DWELL IN SAFETY." ( Psalm 4:6-8 ESV)

Through training in godliness we grow in our faith to trust God with the affairs of life. Since He remains awake ( Psalm 121:4), why should we both lose sleep. If we are facing some specific challenges, let us lay them before God, trusting Him to help with the solution. Then we will be prepared to get the SLEEP the body needs.

Remember Jesus' great invitation to a wearied world.
"(28) Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I WILL GIVE YOU REST. (29) Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS." ( Matthew 11:28-29 ESV)

Sweet rest indeed!
