My Advice Is . . . !

Sometimes advice or instruction comes in the form of criticism. When this occurs the hope would be that it is extended in love, but even then it may not always be easy to accept. We may need to swallow our pride. The message might be a "bitter pill" to swallow, but will it MAKE US BETTER? Can it help us to do a better job? Even if we feel the view might be somewhat exaggerated, can we find the point that needs to be grasped? If we focus on opportunities to grow, our acceptance of such information will be made easier.

Solomon urged. . .
"(20) Listen to advice and accept instruction, THAT YOU MAY GAIN WISDOM in the future." ( Proverbs 19:20 ESV)

We can always be BETTER INDIVIDUALS. We can always do a better job at that in which we are involved. Rather than being defensive -- which is often the first tendency -- let me offer this advice. (1) Give the information some consideration. This may even require a day or two or possibly even longer. But do consider it. (2) Pray about it. Looking to God can provide assistance to properly process the information. (3) Try to be rational rather than emotional as you consider the ideas.

We are wise to give consideration to those ideas that will HELP US move in the direction of further growth regardless of who might be offering them. If the proverbial "shoe" doesn't fit, it is not ours to wear. However, if it does, we will be made better for continuing our walk in life to the glory of God.

Have a great day OPEN TO GROWTH!
Carl
