Where It Starts!

I recently had the following forwarded to me by one of the members of our congregation:

"Build a better world", said God. I answered, "How?
The world is such a vast place and so complicated now.
I am so small and useless. There is nothing I can do."
God in all His wisdom said, "Just build a better YOU."

Let us never underestimate the impact righteous living in this dark world can have on those around us. As we have been called to be salt and light ( Matthew 5:13-16) our presence in this world has great power to influence. If we think this world is bad, consider how worse it would be without any influence for good within it!

In Paul's letter to the church at Philippi, he urged. . .
"(14) Do all things without grumbling or questioning, (15) that you may be blameless and innocent, CHILDREN OF GOD WITHOUT BLEMISH in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom YOU SHINE AS LIGHTS IN THE WORLD, (16) HOLDING FAST TO THE WORD OF LIFE, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain." ( Philippians 2:14-16 ESV)

In view of the world's condition, Paul centered the focus here on how those at Philippi would THEMSELVES LIVE. The spirit in which they approached life -- HOLDING TIGHTLY TO GOD'S STANDARD FOR LIVING -- and the manner in which they lived would allow their lives to SHINE in the world. Good changes in this world begin with the change God brings about in OUR OWN LIFE and then the influence that changed life can have on others beginning in the corner where we live. It begins with the work of God that makes a better "ME" (and YOU)! May we simply be what we have been called to be, living as children of God.

Have a great day MAKING A DIFFERENCE WHERE WE STAND!
Carl
