Looking In The Right Place!

There are many things that become the object of searching in this world. Many people spend their life searching for the wrongs things while others who may be looking for the right things are looking in the wrong places. There is much that can be unearthed while that which is of greatest significance remains buried and hidden from sight and therefore not grasped and possessed.

In Job we read. . .
"(9) Man puts his hand to the flinty rock and overturns mountains by the roots. (10) He cuts out channels in the rocks, and his eye sees every precious thing. (11) He dams up the streams so that they do not trickle, and the thing that is hidden he brings out to light." ( Job 28:9-11 ESV)

Think of all the diamonds, gold, silver, and other precious metals and stones that have been discovered and unearthed through the centuries. Such has even become the all-consuming interest of some until their death. So much time, energy, and sacrifice expended for that which relates only to this realm.

Then the questions were asked. . .
"(12) BUT WHERE SHALL WISDOM BE FOUND? And WHERE IS THE PLACE OF UNDERSTANDING? (13) Man does not know its worth, and it is not found in the land of the living." ( Job 28:12-13 ESV)

WISDOM and UNDERSTANDING. How many have disregarded them, not recognizing their worth? They have accepted that which they have found among mankind, but looked no further. Job went on to acknowledge that such is not found in the deep and cannot be bought with gold or silver or other precious things because it is of greater value than any of that. (vss.14-19) He then stated it is God Who understands the way to it because it is He Who knows its place. (vs.23)

Ultimately Job declared regarding God's revealing . . .
"(28) And he said to man, 'Behold, THE FEAR OF THE LORD, that IS WISDOM, and TO TURN AWAY FROM EVIL IS UNDERSTANDING.' " ( Job 28:28 ESV)

It is God to Whom we need to continually turn for the discovery of WISDOM and the development of UNDERSTANDING so as to discern evil from good. What we need to lead us through life now and on into an eternity with Him is uncovered and revealed by Him. May our daily life reveal our recognition of this searching to be of the greatest significance.
