Way Of Life!
Some people have a "Life Alert" button worn around their neck in case of a medical emergency in their home. On a wall we may see a red lever reading: "In Case Of Fire, Pull Down." Other postings read: "In Case Of Emergency Call 911", "In Case Of Abuse Call 1-800-FOR-HELP", etc. Knowing beforehand what to do or who to call can be a comfort rather than having to hunt up numbers in the midst of a crisis or panicking in not knowing where to turn for help.
Someone has said, "True prayer is a way of life, not just an emergency route." It is also not to be merely a panic button. Though there are times when we feel the immediate need for PRAYER, PRAYER is to be a regular part of everyday life. Continuing in unceasing PRAYER ( 1 Thessalonians 5:17) helps in maintaining the focus on God through all of life's varied situations. PRAYER is not to be a last resort. Our motto should not be, "When all else fails, PRAY!" PRAYER to God is something to keep always in the forefront of our mind as we recognize communication with our God can take place from anyplace and at anytime.
Paul urged those at Philippi. . .
"(6) do not be anxious about anything, but IN EVERYTHING by PRAYER and SUPPLICATION with THANKSGIVING let your requests be made known to God." ( Philippians 4:6 ESV)
Though some in the world say otherwise, PRAYER is actually appropriate for all occasions because PRAYER is many faceted. We have needs both physical and spiritual of which we should PRAY. There is the continual need for guidance. And there is much for which we ought to be thankful in PRAYER to God.
In the Psalms we read. . .
"(1) GOD is our refuge and strength, A VERY PRESENT HELP IN TROUBLE." ( Psalm 46:1 ESV)
No numbers to remember. No button to push. No lever to pull down. God wants us to know He is attentive to our PRAYERS. ( 1 Peter 3:12) Though it has been said of some that they don't have a prayer, let us always remember we do. From anyplace and at anytime God hears us.
Have a great day CONVERSING WITH GOD ALL ALONG LIFE'S WAY!
Carl
