Figured Out?

When man analyzes, dissects, examines, and investigates the world around him, it makes him feel on a par with or a step above since he has figured it all out. Having conquered the knowledge he has sought after makes him feel superior to that which he has looked upon. Has religion been reduced to the same level? Though God has revealed many great and deep truths to us through His word, do we have God all figured out? We should greatly rejoice and be encouraged by what we do know of God, understanding He still holds some secrets. (note Deuteronomy 29:29) Though we should continue to learn more about and from God, do we acknowledge how we need a God bigger than our understanding? Someone has stated, "A religion small enough for our understanding would not be big enough for our needs." [original source unknown]

In Paul's letter to the church at Rome, he noted. . .
"(33) Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How UNSEARCHABLE are HIS JUDGMENTS and how INSCRUTABLE HIS WAYS! (34) 'For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, or WHO HAS BEEN HIS COUNSELOR?' (35) 'Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?' (36) For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen." ( Romans 11:33-36 ESV)

God's wisdom is FAR ABOVE ours. (i.e. Isaiah 55:8-9; 1 Corinthians 1:25) That is why we cannot come to know Him and His Will by looking down on Him and make examination, but rather by LOOKING UP TO HIM to have our understanding always drawn toward Him. The reality is, I don't have "me" all figured out! How can I think I can have God all figured out? Praise God He excels in wisdom far above ours and has power mightier than ours. Therefore He is fully able to sustain us for this life and ultimately bring us to be with Him for eternity. He is big enough to be trusted and relied upon! Yes, to Him truly be the glory forever! Amen!
