Choosing Sides!

Someone has noted, "The only one among the twelve apostles who did not become a missionary became a traitor." This makes me think of our Lord's own statement signifying only two choices relative to Him and His mission.

Jesus said. . .
"Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does NOT GATHER WITH ME SCATTERS." ( Matthew 12:30 ESV) [also Luke 11:23]

Are we CONTRIBUTORS TO THE MISSION of Jesus or are our lives working against it? Judas was where he received knowledge of the Lord's teaching and witnessed His power, but what did he CONTRIBUTE TO THE MISSION? He was even guilty of helping himself to the money bag he carried for the Lord and His disciples. ( John 12:4-6) Perhaps that is why Judas was able to sell out his Lord at a price. ( Matthew 26:14-16) His focus was more on self than on others.

If we are going to be mission minded we must have a focus beyond ourselves to the highest benefit of others. That is taking on the mind of the Lord Who willingly gave Himself on our behalf. Jesus is our great example of A GIVER rather than a taker. The taking He desires to do is to ultimately take us home to be with Him for eternity. HE GAVE Himself to make that taking possible. May we be noted as ones who CONTINUE GATHERING WITH HIM. It is the greatest work in which we could ever be involved.

Have a great day SIDING WITH THE LORD'S MISSION!
Carl
