Testifying!

John the Baptist BORE WITNESS TO THE TRUTH of Jesus. ( John 5:33) Jesus told Pilate He had come into the world "to BEAR WITNESS TO THE TRUTH." ( John 18:37) The Apostle John also testified TO THE TRUTH "the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world." ( 1 John 4:14 ESV) Paul even testified TO THE TRUTH in Rome. ( Acts 23:11; 26:22) THE TRUTH is important! Testimony ought always to be true and what this world needs most is to know THE TRUTH, because it is only THE TRUTH that can set us free. ( John 8:32)

It has been remarked that God hasn't made many of us lawyers, but He has subpoenaed all of us as witnesses! Does our life testify to THE TRUTH of God's Word and its wisdom for daily living? Are we also testifying verbally to the difference Jesus -- Who is THE TRUTH ( John 14:6) -- has made in our life? If we are not, having become Christians we could be charged with committing "spiritual perjury" for conveying -- either by life or words -- a testimony different than THE TRUTH we have come to know.

When Peter and John were told by Jewish officials to stop speaking and teaching in the name of Jesus, the Apostles firmly declared. . .
"(19) But Peter and John answered them, 'Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge, (20) for WE CANNOT BUT SPEAK OF WHAT WE HAVE SEEN AND HEARD.'" ( Acts 4:19-20 ESV)

They were compelled to speak! They could not keep from speaking! May we also be so compelled TO SPEAK THE TRUTH we have come to know of Jesus and the renewal to our life He has made possible.
