Personally Significant!

There are days when we may question our significance. We may even wonder how many genuinely care about what is going on in our life? Has there ever been a point when we considered ourselves a "nobody"? Is it perhaps the thought being entertained today? Though we ought to maintain a humble view of ourselves (i.e. Romans 12:3; Galatians 6:3) we still should remember our life is significant. It has been suggested that on those days when we begin to think we are a "nobody", we ought to make a list of all the people who KNOW US BY OUR NAME! That list should start with the Lord!

As Jesus addressed the concept of being the good Shepherd willing to give His all on behalf of His sheep, we find the following encouragement regarding those who are following Him.

Jesus stated. . .
"(2) But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. (3) To him the gatekeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and HE CALLS HIS OWN SHEEP BY NAME and leads them out." ( John 10:2-3 ESV)

According to the sixth verse, the disciples did not quite understand the figurative language Jesus was using, so He went on to clarify how He Himself was being pictured here. As Jesus continued to draw attention to the personal nature of His relationship to His sheep, twice more He emphasized. . .

"(14) I am the good shepherd. I KNOW MY OWN and my own know me," ( John 10:14 ESV)

. . . and . . .

"(26) My sheep hear my voice, and I KNOW THEM, and they follow me." ( John 10:27 ESV)

Yes, He KNOWS US! He KNOWS US intimately! And He longs for us to remain under His tender shepherd's care! So, remember the list with His Name at the top. We are a "somebody" for whom He laid down His life.

Have a great day ENCOURAGED TO KNOW WHO KNOWS US BEST!
