Not A Little Matter!

There are some things that get better (or more valuable) WITH TIME. Cheese is aged. Investments mature. Well preserved antiques fetch a high price. Etc. However, one thing that does not fall into this category is a lie. A lie never gets better WITH TIME. In fact, it often must breed more lies to cover the first one and then it becomes difficult to keep the story straight. IN TIME the lie just becomes more complicated! Then along with this challenge are the guilt, regret, and the ulcers from keeping it all bottled up within. This is one of the reasons why confession is good for the soul. David knew the freedom and relief confession brought. (i.e. Psalm 32:3-5 & 38:17-18) IN TIME the lies usually come to light. However, there is A TIME of revealing which really needs to be considered before we find ourselves ensnared by the web of deceitfulness.

In the revelation of Jesus to John we read. . .
"(8) But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, AND ALL LIARS, THEIR PORTION will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which IS THE SECOND DEATH." ( Revelation 21:8 ESV)

It seems we live in a world today where lying is often consider no big deal. Nevertheless, though some do consider lying a little thing, there is the need to recognize the category the Scriptures place it in and the end to which it can ultimately bring those who continue to practice it. There is A TIME of reckoning coming. Therefore now is THE TIME for reconciliation with God.

In Paul's letter to the church at Rome he urged. . .
"(17) Repay no one evil for evil, but GIVE THOUGHT TO DO WHAT IS HONORABLE IN THE SIGHT OF ALL." ( Romans 12:17 ESV)

Let us not lower ourselves to the standard of this world, but rather reveal the power and wisdom of being honest and honorable in all things. Not only will we experience peace within ourselves, but there is greater potential IN TIME to bring about peace between us and others. We will also find ourselves at peace with our God to Whom everything is "naked and exposed." ( Hebrews 4:13) It is His view that matters above all else. To Him be the glory as we live to honor His Name in our daily life.

Have a great day KEEPING HONESTY A BIG DEAL!
