Where He Goes!

Though some thought they knew where Jesus came from, did they really? There were those who could only see Him as a boy who had grown up in the small town of Nazareth in the home of a humble carpenter. ( John 6:42) They knew his brothers and sisters. ( Matthew 13:55-56) However, the understanding seems to have been that when the Christ came, they would not know where he was from. ( John 7:27) This is why they struggled accepting Jesus in spite of the miracles he performed and the wisdom he possessed. To them it was not reasonable to accept His statement that He had come down from Heaven. ( John 6:42)

Not only did Jesus mention where He was from, but He also asserted He knew where He was going. ( John 8:14) Though we may be aware of where we have been, do we sometimes struggle with knowing where we are going? Jesus told some that where He was going, they could not come, but would instead die in their sin. ( John 8:21) Jesus also told His disciples that where He was going they could not come. ( John 13:33) When Peter asked where the Lord was going Jesus then responded that where He was going he could not come now, but WOULD FOLLOW AFTERWARD. ( John 13:36)

When encouraging the disciples that when He went away He would go and prepare a place for them and would then return to take them to where He was ( John 14:1-3), He went on to state. . .

"(4) And YOU KNOW THE WAY TO WHERE I AM GOING." ( John 14:4 ESV)

It was Thomas who spoke up this time, stating they did not know where He was going so "How can we know the way?" ( John 14:5 ESV) This is when Jesus made that familiar statement. . .

"(6) Jesus said to him, "I AM THE WAY, and the truth, and the life. NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH ME." ( John 14:6 ESV)

"How can we know the way?" "I AM THE WAY!" Knowing THE WAY to where Jesus has gone is by knowing Him as THE WAY. For us to get where He is we must simply KEEP FOLLOWING JESUS. We may not always know all the places where life's path will take us, but with our eyes on Jesus we can know where our journey will end? Where He leads, let us FOLLOW! The destination will surely be worth the journey.

Have a great day FOLLOWING "THE WAY" WE KNOW LEADS TO GOD!
