When Truth Is Not Loved! (part 1 of 2)

Have you ever tried to fix something with very sticky tape, only to end up with tape sticking to yourself, making it difficult to release? Deception can have a similar effect. Some people lie to the point they BECOME STUCK, no longer able to remember the difference between the truth and the lie. There is a sense in which as they have deceived others, they become SELF-DECEIVED into believing the lie actually is the truth. Some even find themselves lying when the truth would still work to their advantage. Oh how the devil -- "the father of lies" ( John 8:44 ESV) -- rejoices at the ENTANGLEMENT the web of deception creates.

In Paul's second letter to the church at Thessalonica he warned. . .
"(9) The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, (10) and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, BECAUSE THEY REFUSED TO LOVE THE TRUTH AND SO BE SAVED. (11) Therefore GOD SENDS THEM A STRONG DELUSION, SO THAT THEY MAY BELIEVE WHAT IS FALSE, (12) in order that all may be condemned WHO DO NOT BELIEVE THE TRUTH BUT HAD PLEASURE IN UNRIGHTEOUSNESS." ( 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 ESV)

The great work of the devil is still that of deceiving today. He has been at it for a very long time. (i.e. Genesis 3:1-5 & 13) One of the best ways to protect ourselves is to love the truth. Otherwise we open ourselves up to falling victim to believing just about anything. Does it not surprise us what some embrace as truth that is no truth at all? What we love most is what we are most drawn to and to which we remain attached.

"Love the truth and so be saved." To not love the truth we are destined to perish, STUCK in a realm of deception with the great "deceiver of the whole world" himself. ( Revelation 12:9) Since it is the truth that sets us free ( John 8:32), may that be what we continue to love. It is the truth of God that brings the real fixes our life needs; truth that will stick for eternity!
